FAQS

you have the question - I have the answers

  • Yes! Doing your taxes may put money in your pocket. To continue to receive benefit payments, CRA requires you to file.

  • Unfortunately, you have to make this change with CRA prior to filing your tax return. Change your address by logging into your CRA My Account page.

  • Yes! It is either 3% of your net income as reported on your tax return, or $2,635 in 2023, ($2,759 for 2024), whichever is lower.

  • The due date for filing your taxes:

April 30th, 2024 – the deadline for most Canadians

June 17th, 2024 – the deadline if you or your spouse/common-law partner are self-employed (but if you owe money on your taxes, you should file and pay your bill by April 30, or you’ll be charged interest)

  • It means we will liaise closely with your Accountant for Year-End preparation and tax filings that he/she will remit on your behalf.

We invite your CPA to the Quickbooks Online file and they have live, full access at any point to see your financials.

It creates a symbiotic relationship and allows you, the business owner, to have a full team working on your behalf when you need it.

  • In Canada, no matter if you’re married or common-law, you file separately to your partner.

There are some benefits to filing at the same time or using the same tax preparer because you can take advantage of some tax credits such as the spousal tax credit, child care expenses, pooling your charitable donations, and pooling medical expenses.
