037 | Big Announcement! Intuit Purchases Mailchimp.

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

Last week on September 13th, 2021, Intuit announced its deal to purchase Mailchimp for a whopping $12 billion!

Intuit is more popularly known interchangeably with #Quickbooks and #TurboTax and not for email marketing, so an interesting move for sure.

The question on all of our minds is "What?" and "Why?" Per a release, “Together, Mailchimp and QuickBooks will become a powerful engine for small and mid-market business customers to get, engage and retain their customers, run their businesses, optimize cash flow and remain compliant,” said Alex Chriss, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Intuit Small Business and Self-Employed Group.

Now, I'm not sure what you interpret this statement to mean, but I think it's going to be another increase in Quickbooks subscription fees, after a recent hike this year to already strapped entrepreneurs and small businesses, plus in the middle of a Covid crisis no less. It will force Quickbooks users into the Mailchimp platform because you'll be paying for it anyways so you may as well use it. I hope that it means businesses gain more traffic as a result, and more paying customers, but we'll wait and see.

And as always, we are here to help with you bookkeeping needs and business success! Financial abundance starts with managing your money.
